CRM and ERP on the road: App instead of Sync

Mobile access to CRM and ERP systems is becoming increasingly important. In offline mode, existing possibilities that an app with direct access can offer are not used.

Starnberg, June 17, 2014 – Whether you are a project manager on construction sites, a sales representative in the field or a manager on vacation, there are countless examples that confirm that the need to access CRM and ERP systems while on the road is constantly growing. In requirements catalogs, the topic is increasingly referred to as “Offline operation desired”.

No matter whether it is access to complex data, such as the history of offers or simple contact data, the problem is always the same. It must be guaranteed that changes on the mobile device do not destroy any information in the master data and the data should be as up-to-date as possible. The former is still in the hands of the company or the program manufacturer with a lot of programming effort, including various security checks and assignment of rights. However, the actuality of the data remains in the hands of the employees, whose mobile devices may not be synchronized in time or, in the worst case, may be lost or stolen. These problems can be prevented by mobile access directly to the original data.

The Starnberg-based CRM and ERP manufacturer Sta*Ware GmbH relies on the in-house development of mobile apps. These are available for Androids as well as for iPhones/iPads. “With the Sta*Ware InfoCenter, we have been relying for many years on distributing the right information to the right person at the right time and of course always up-to-date,” explains Christian Paucksch, Managing Director of Sta*Ware GmbH. “Consequently, we continue to adhere to this principle even with mobile access in order to provide direct access to the database“. The first app for access to contact data, appointments and knowledge is only the beginning of our development. Sta*Ware is planning further apps for viewing and creating processes, e-mails, notes and documents by the end of the year.

With the current development of mobile devices, it is time to say goodbye to synchronization and work with up-to-date data at all times.
